WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – It was all Lynchburg all night as the Hillcats toppled the Winston-Salem Dash 14-1 on Friday at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The Hillcats scored in six of nine innings at the plate starting with the first. Sam Haggerty and Willi Castro led off the game with back-to-back singles and stolen bases. Ka’ai Tom doubled them home to start the scoring extravaganza.

Andrew Calica homered in the third inning to start his 3-for-3, three run, three RBI, and three walk night at the plate. Calica was matched in the fourth by a Zack Collins solo shot for Winston-Salem’s only run of the game.

Lynchburg extended its lead to 5-1 in the fifth with back-to-back RBI-singles from Calica and Collins. Four more came across to score in the sixth, one on a Castro RBI-groundout, and three on a bases clearing double from Collins. A Jose Medina single put the Hillcats up 10-1 in the seventh.

It was a rough outing for both of Winston-Salem’s 6-foot-7 hurlers. Alec Hansen started the game and gave up five runs on seven hits, two walks, and five strikeouts in four-and-two-thirds innings. Zach Thompson relieved Hansen and gave up five runs of his own on five hits, two walks, and a strikeout over one-and-two-thirds.

Sicnarf Loopstok started Lynchburg’s second four-run inning of the game in the ninth with an infield single. Jodd Carter, Medina, Castro, and Calica each drove in a run to put the Hillcats up 14-1.

The entire Hillcats’ lineup recorded a hit with only Castro, Loopstok, and Carter not recording multiple hit nights. Collins and Tom were the only players not to score. Collins led with four RBI.

With the first half Carolina League Northern Division title already in the bag, Lynchburg is cruising with a five game league over the Salem Red Sox.

BB&T Ballpark sits on the outskirts of down town Winston-Salem with the cities’ skyline visible from the stands. It features a unique outfield fence, with the fence raising twice from left to right and back down for somewhat of a home run porch in right. The stadium features one level of seating around the field with a few rows of seats in right and a berm in left. The premium seating option is the “Flow Club” above the concourse.

It was Dad and Daughter Date Night on Friday with dads and their daughter encouraged to take a photo on the field and receive the photo framed for free. Although they were smoked on the scoreboard, the Dash sent their fans home happy after an excellent fireworks show post game as part of their Fireworks Fridays.
